Strength for the Weary
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31
Weariness is not a sign of weak faith. It is a sign of being human. Even the greatest servants of God — Elijah under the juniper tree, David in the wilderness, Paul in chains — knew what it felt like to be spent.
The promise of Isaiah 40 is not given to the strong. It is given to the weary. To those who have run hard and feel they have nothing left. To those who are walking when they used to soar.
The key is in the waiting — not passive resignation, but active hope. Waiting on the Lord means turning your face toward Him in the middle of your exhaustion, acknowledging that your strength has limits and His does not.
When you wait on Him, something supernatural happens. He does not just refill what you had — He renews. He restores. He lifts you to a place you could not have reached on your own.
If you are weary today, this promise is for you. Rest in Him. Let Him be your strength.
Reflections
In what area of your life are you running on empty? What would it look like to actively wait on the Lord rather than pushing through on your own?
Prayer
Lord, I am weary. I have been running on my own strength and I am spent. Renew me today. Lift me up. Let me soar on Your strength, not my own. In Jesus Name, Amen.
